New and Booster Vaccinations

At the behest of the NHS we invite all eligible patients (by text or phone) to have their COVID booster vaccinations at the Surgery, this is usually twice a year, Spring and Autumn.  If you haven't received an invitation but feel you should have please contact the Surgery.

Covid:

Aged 75 and over
Residents in a care home for older adults
Individuals identified in "clinical risk group"

At the same time during Autumn we invite eligible patients to have their FLU vaccinations and call this Winter Vaccinations.

FLU:

Aged 65 and over
Have certain health conditions which make you more at risk
Are pregnant
Are in long-stay residential care
Receive a carer's allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
Live with someone who is more likely to get a severe infection due to a weakened immune system, such as someone living with HIV, someone who has had a transplant, or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis

RSV:

There is now also a new vaccination for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus):

RSV is a common and highly infectious respiratory virus that affects the breathing system. It generally causes mild illness with cold-like symptoms, such as a runny nose, cough, fever, or decrease in appetite. Most people recover after 2 to 3 weeks, but RSV can affect the lower airways in some people and cause severe illnesses such as pneumonia and bronchiolitis, leading to complications and hospitalisation.

The vaccine was made available from 1st September 2024 and is being offered to you if:

You are aged 75-79

You are 28+ weeks pregnant (this will help to protect your baby for the first few months after they’re born)

However, it is important to please note that the RSV vaccination cannot be given at the same time as the Flu and Covid Vaccinations.

To book your appointment, please contact the practice on 01789 292895.
